Interactive Installation

If you are installing the client on a small number of systems, or you wish to configure the installation differently on each machine, you may wish to use the interactive installation process.

This process is also useful when installing on machines that do not have RPM facilities available. This installation process is only available on Linux machines.

Begin the interactive installation by logging in as root and typing:

$ sh install-crossover-client-7.0.0.sh

Once the package installation has completed, click on the Configure Now button and you should see the first panel of the client setup wizard. The setup wizard will guide you through the rest of the installation.

Server hostname (or IP).  This field specifies the name or address of the system running CrossOver Office Server Edition. If your network does not provide name resolution (DNS) then specify the server by IP address.

Require passphrase on application launch.  If left unchecked CrossOver Office Server Edition will create an ssh key that lets users log in on the server without entering a password. This provides users with a very seamless experience. If enabling passwordless ssh connections concerns you, you can check this box. This will cause CrossOver Office Server Edition to create ssh keys that require a passphrase. In that case users will have to enter the passphrase the first time they use CrossOver Office Client. After this ssh will retain the user's credentials until he logs out.

Ssh key name.  This field specifies the filename of the ssh key created by CrossOver Office Server Edition. This path is relative to the user's home directory. If all the client machines already have ssh keys for logging in onto the server and you would like to reuse that key, then enter the name of that key here. Typically, you will not need to change this field.

The final screen of the setup wizard will list the applications that have been set up for the client.
