Tips on running unsupported applications


CrossOver is carefully designed to support a small set of widely used programs. These 'supported applications' should work on CrossOver without a second thought. CrossOver contains internal knowledge about many of these apps which improve their performance: ideal bottle types, necessary subcomponents, and subtle registry changes.

In addition to this small set of supported applications, CrossOver can run a host of other applications which do not appear in the supported list. Most of these apps will also install and run just fine without any special adjustments. Some, however, require the application of specific techniques in order to install and run. This guide will list several of these steps so that users may experiment with them when trying to install troublesome programs.

Before we begin, however, we have to warn you that some of the tips below may destabilize supported applications or even, if things go badly, cause CrossOver to stop working. Just trying to install an unsupported application can actually have this effect too. It is strongly recommended that you
