Software Firm Crowd Sources Tagline

SAINT PAUL, Minn. (July 11, 2011) — Why pay a high-priced marketing guru when your customers will do? Gadfly Saint Paul-based software developers CodeWeavers are doing just that with a new “CodeWeavers Tagline Contest,” in which they are calling on their customers and fan community to develop their marketing tagline in eight words or less. CodeWeavers – which employs 35 – develops software that enables Mac and Linux users to run Windows applications without a license. “Many of our customers are DIYers, open-source fanatics and/or gamers,” said Jon Parshall, CodeWeavers’ COO. “In other words, it’s a perfect stew of creativity and ingenuity that we’re confident will help us find the next great ‘Got milk?’ or ‘It takes a licking and keeps on ticking.’ Besides, marketing guys with Buddy Holly glasses, soul patches and black turtlenecks intimidate me.” Individuals can submit their tagline ideas by July 22, 2011. The author of the selected tagline wins an iPod Touch and an unforgettable new line on their resume. Learn more here.
