Civic duty and marketing stunts

The single most effective marketing effort of our history was the Lame Duck giveaway of 2008.

The single most stressful event in our company's history, and the source for most nervous disorders and anger in our employees, was the Lame Duck giveaway of 2008.

So it is with hope and fear that I am happy to announce that we're going to try it again. You can see how well the staff took the message by watching this video.

Enabling the whole world to try CrossOver for free is the best way we can imagine to spread the word about CrossOver goodness. We have come a long way in the past four years; Wine is now capable of running most Windows applications, and we are improving its quality constantly. We hope this effort encourages more folks to give CrossOver a try and to consider helping support our work on Wine in the future.

Too many people are turned off by the whole political process; if putting on a duck costume encourages even a few people to vote when they would not otherwise have done so, I consider that a net win as well.

We are watching the fallout from Sandy with great concern and we mostly hope that everyone stays safe and dry.  We are trying to figure out how to make sure that folks who are without power tomorrow can still benefit from some CrossOver goodness.

Now forgive me, I've got to keep moving so Newman can't find me... 😊

Cheers,
Jeremy
