CrossOver Preview Delivers the Latest in Mac Gaming - Now Available to All Users!

The CrossOver team is thrilled to announce the first public release of our new add-on experience, CrossOver Preview. As previously mentioned here, Preview offers bleeding edge updates, including a newer Wine version and the latest fixes to get specific games and applications working. Keep reading to learn more about Preview, and use the deal code TryTheEdge to save 25% off the price of CrossOver+ until September 27, 2024.*

We pride ourselves on very high-quality stable releases to ensure that our users that rely on CrossOver have a consistent experience. However, quality comes at the expense of speed, and we want to make sure that we can get cool new things out the door faster for users who want to experiment with our bleeding-edge development.

CrossOver Preview is our solution to this problem: our Preview Crew gets to try out our latest and greatest, and they can submit reports to let us know what is working and what isn't. Reports from our Preview Crew are very important: the more feedback we get, the faster we can get future quality Preview and stable releases out. Our QA team runs through their standard test cases before every Preview release, but there are way more Windows applications than we have testers, so your feedback is invaluable!

Since CrossOver Preview is not as thoroughly tested as our stable releases, bugs are more likely. If that thought freaks you out, CrossOver Preview might not be for you. For folks who aren’t interested in the latest and greatest, everything with our stable CrossOver product will remain the same as before: we will do stable CrossOver releases with new Wine releases, and we will continue to push out fix releases for any critical bugs that come up.

CrossOver Preview is available to anyone with active CrossOver+ or CrossOver Life support entitlements. To gain access to Preview, you can sign up here. After logging into our website and signing up, you'll be able to download Preview, chat with other members of the Preview Crew in exclusive forums, read changelogs and submit Preview reports that yours truly will respond to and reward XP for. Please note that if your support for CrossOver+ lapses, you will lose access to all Preview builds, so don't sleep on those renewal emails!

Today's CrossOver Preview release includes a lot of great features. Preview is based on Wine 9.16, so our Mac and Linux users will get all of the updates from the last 16 Wine development releases. Our Mac gamers also benefit from plenty of other targeted fixes. We bumped MoltenVK to version 1.2.10. Tekken 8 is now fully functional, including multiplayer. Cities: Skylines II, Hero's Land and Elite Dangerous are newly working out of the box. We also included support for H.264 decoding which fixes crashes with many games, including Monster Hunter Rise and Mortal Kombat 11. Steam has a much faster startup time, so you can get into all of these games quicker. And for the first time, we have support for GOG Galaxy and Epic Games Store on macOS, adding even more opportunities to enjoy the best way to game on Mac.

One last note for our Mac users: CrossOver Preview works perfectly on the upcoming macOS Sequoia release, just like stable CrossOver 24.0.5 does.

I look forward to reading all of your Preview reports and future Preview releases. Thanks for joining in our latest adventure!

About Meredith Johnson
Meredith has been with CodeWeavers since 2019, and currently wears both the QA Manager and CrossOver Product Manager hats. After getting her PhD in linguistics, she somehow stumbled into the Free and Open Source Software world. When she isn't testing CrossOver, she's probably perfecting yet another bean stew, jogging slowly, buying even more linen tunics, doing a face mask or doting on her perfect chunky baby.

BUAAAAA

Trying to play Satisfactory on a MacBook Pro M1 prior to the release of MacOS Sequoia worked fine but after the MacOS was upgraded, running Satisfactory causes the mac to reboot every time. Game is unplayable.
