A magyar nyelv értelmező szótára

This is the most authoritative academic dictionary of the Hungarian language. When loaded in Parallels Desktop there was an alert that the database could not be opened. The company refused to help to solve the problem. I found the solution on the company's website, but it helped only when Parallels was used in conjunction with VMWare. The whole situation was very inconvenient. One had to keep open Parallels and VMWare all the time, and keep the disk in the drive. This also slowed down the computer. All this was ended when I went CrossOver. It took about three weeks of intensive correspondence with the support department to render the application compatible with CrossOver, but eventually the solution was very simple. Now I can use it as if it were a native Macintosh application. Here is the solution:

-copy the installation disk to your hard disk. For some unexplained reason, it will be called "ADOBE_PHOTOSHOP" (Warning: in course of installation never touch your real Photoshop).

  • in Configure>Manage Bottles, delete any bottles you've used to attempt installations of ertelmezo.
  • use the "+" key to create a new bottle, call it "ertelmezo" (Warning: diacritics in the name may interfere with proper functioning).
  • open up a finder, and browse to

/Library/Application Support/CrossOver/bottles/ertelmezo/cxbottle.conf

open the "cxbottle.conf" file in a text editor. Scroll down the bottom, in the [EnvironmentVariables] section. Add this line

"LC_ALL"="hu_HU.UTF-8"

so that the section looks like this:

[EnvironmentVariables]
;;"PROMPT" = "$p$g"
"LC_ALL"="hu_HU.UTF-8"

Then save the file, and quit.

Now, go to Crossover's install software menu, select Other Applications, select the "START.EXE" file within "ADOBE_PHOTOSHOP" as the installer source, select the bottle just modified as the bottle into which you'll be installing. Click "install."

The application will open and will be fully functional. But installation will stop half way. To finish installation you must quit the application Értelmező, and then installation will be completed. (Warning: Take care to close only Értelmező, not CrossOver; otherwise you will have to begin all over again).

NOTE: The support people were admirable, in a complicated job.
