Advent Rising will run under Crossover Games Mac 9.0.0 rc2 fine in almost every respect except for the mouse. While the mouse responds fine with small movements, any movement of it to the side of the screen will cause wild control fluctuations and render the game unplayable. This, unfortunately, makes this game basically impossible to enjoy as every time you are required to turn around, control is lost. Using wineconfig, trying to force the mouse to remain within window makes no difference; neither does running fullscreen/windowed, or using an emulated desktop. Anyone with some ideas on how to fix this would be good. I noticed that in fullscreen there is also some irregular framerate lag, despite using a low resolution and exceeding the recommended requirements on my MacBook Pro 2.2GHz.
You really should *not* report beta/release_candidate results here
in the general forums -- rc2 is in no way a final release, and things
may still change yet before CXG-9.0 *is* finally released, and what you've
written above may be rendered null and void by subsequent changes yet to
be made. Use one of the beta forums instead to discuss this sort of thing...see;
We're rebels. We're misfits. But mostly, we're software liberators. And we're very, very good at what we do. We have to be. Lots of developers work with open source, but only a tiny fraction of those are good enough to get software that was designed for one platform to work on another one. We invented CrossOver software - a unique approach to cross-platform compatibility that does not require dual-boot or another OS license. We launched PortJump to help app and game developers broaden their market beyond Windows® users. And we launched ExecMode to help organizations solve really ugly technical challenges.
