Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition Forum

Hi Folks,

Happy to have this update. I use M1 Air and i made test score was 1238. Great result gameplay I just had a quick offline match because of I am at work and didn't tried online yet but thanks to you guys that always been contact in here. It is nice to play this game still good luck to everyone.

So, the remaining problem is... a multiplay issue. i.e., the connection is lost after starting the match at soon.

In the previous versions of CrossOver, the solution is replacing CrossOver's original ucrtbase.dll with one based on vc_redist.x64.exe, and setting ucrtbase and concrt140 as Native in the wine configuration.

However, in CrossOver 23.0.1, changing the wine configuration as above causes the endless scanning problem where CrossOver cannot open any windows applications. Without solving this issue, we cannot say AoE2DE works in CrossOver yet.

That solution is not needed. If you simply install the game by searching for "Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition" within CrossOver, multiplayer will work.

I tried searching Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (AoE2DE) in CrossOver, and installed it.
A process started: making a new bottle, installing some libraries, and installing Steam.

However, this process was stacked in launching Steam, sadly...
The login window of Steam cannot appear...

I also tried searching Steam in CrossOver, and installed it in a new clean bottle.
This Steam succeeded to appear, and I can login it.
But, I searched AoE2DE in CrossOver, installed it into this bottle, and it caused the same stacking in launching Steam sadly...

That's very strange; I don't see that issue. If you still see it once CrossOver 23.5 is released, please enter a support ticket for more assistance.

AOE2 DE working in Crossover 23.5. Now the issue I see is a slight stutter every 5 seconds. Have not been able to fix it.

Running it on a Macbook M1 Max, with Monterey 12.6.1.

Did you install the game by searching for "Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition" within CrossOver? That's needed for functioning multiplayer.

There was an issue with the previous version of the crossover with age of empires. But there is a fix. I have written a guide on how to play Age of Empires 2 de on Mac m1,m2, or m3. You can check that out.

Sometimes could start, but sometimes can't. And when i enter game lobby with friends will see black screen and got some error? I try to reinstall 3 times, but couldn't fix that issue.
Then i stop replace ucrtbase.dll & uninstall DXVK & DirectX for Modern Games.
I only install steam & Aoe II DE, it works~

I have gotten the game to work. It involves the Steam Version and involves previously having Installed Steam as a Windows 10, 64-bit Bottle. But that only covers the Steam Version, unfortunately.

Hey all! V new here and trying to get AE installed. I'm trying to get AE in steam and everyime I hit install I just get the message in steam saying "An Error Occured - No Licenses" Am I doing something wrong? I've added and replaced the the .dll file too!
