App description field usage...

Hi Jeff,

I just noticed you edited this app's Description field ;

[Description]

  • 1000 vs 1000 free MMORPG. Highly PvP based with plenty of PvE elements.
  • 1000 vs 1000 free MMORPG. Highly PvP based with plenty of PvE elements.
  • Currently trying to get it Tested.

In an FYI sort of way, you should know the app description
should be limited to that purpose -- a brief description of
the app ; not to remark on what/when/why someone is doing
something with it...

...that sort of chatter, belongs here, in the app's forum.
If you look around, you'll see a multitude of threads pertaining
to what 'the state of play' is wrt some app, and what (if anything)
someone's trying to do to get it running (or if they've hit a brick
wall instead :) - a lot of these types of threads, have subject
lines like 'not yet working is crossover (version)' or 'trying to
get it working in (OS)/crossover(version)' or such and similar...
..and in those threads, some exposition of what has been tried. It's
useful, as sometimes some other user/advocate might see the issue,
and recognize how to fix it (notwithstanding the fact they may not
have/use the app you're toying with)...this won't happen appending
a comment to the app description -- it's possibly more likely one
of the Ninajs will see it, and declare 'that doesn't belong here'
and 'nix the edit...(as it's not part of the app's description 8)

No big deal or nothin', just one of those obscure points of C4 site
etiquette/usage guidelines I guess <grin>...

Cheers!

Just check thanks for that catch haha sorry guess you were right.

Hi again,

No worries, and yes...you've done good, thanks for the

quick response =) It's never immediately apparent I don't
think, but a lot of C4 is really a wiki...and in that respect,
this wiki is a lot easier going than some other wikis that
I know of...ie; in some places, a technically 'bad' edit like
what you added, would've been jumped on and edited mercilessly,
and in some many instances this would've happened without any
sort of notification -8)

Here, it's much more of a kinder place where one can make such
'trivial' mistakes like this, and then be given an explanation
and the opportunity to redress things yourself - imho, this is
a lot 'friendlier' than someone coming along. removing your edit,
and leaving a note like "don't do that" in their wake - that's
bad practice ; it's better to let someone 'make things right'
themselves if at all possible, so they gain some positivity from
the experience...<g>...

Cheers!
