I installed DAoC with the 14-day trial installer. No expansions besides Shrouded Isles.
It ran fine, patched, and started up. At that point, I could select a realm and edit preferences, but as soon as I try to create a character it crashes with no error message.
Any thoughts?

I posted too soon. :) Disabling pixelshading from winecfg fixed the crash. The game launches and seems to run fine. However, the cursor is completely invisible. :(
The wine entry on DAoC has a hack to get the cursor displayed, but that's not really an option here:
