.. Currently the GamersGate installer is incorporated into the download stub
of all apps/games distributed by GamersGate. That said, the installer itself
has requirements for it's proper operations, that are disparate from what the
actual game titles themselves need to run. Further, those requirements may
change from time to time, with crossover version releases and/or changes in
the GamersGate installer itself...
.. this appid & crosstie handles/installs the prerequisites actually needed
by the GamersGate installer itself - this includes registry manipulation as
needed by the GamersGate installer, which can change from time to time. Using
this appid as a pre-dependency, allows for the editing of such changes in this
one crosstie profile, as opposed to having to edit every GamersGate app/game
crosstie profile, when such changes manifest themselves...
if you are creating a crosstie for some app/game bought from GamersGate,
include this appid as a pre-dependency in your crosstie install profile..
if you are trying to install an app/game purchased from GamersGate, and,
no crosstie profile is available for that title. you can install this target
(renaming the bottle to be created if you like), and it will create/prepare
the bottle so that your -actual- GamersGate stub installer will work, if
installed as an 'Other' application into that same bottle...
