Has *anyone* managed to get an iPod Classic to work with CX? (Suse 10.1)

I'm want to get an iPod Classic to work under Suse 10.1 and downloaded the CX 6.2.0 Standard trial version to test. (Am happy to pay for multiple licences, but only if it works.) I have followed the instructions as best I can but cannot get iTunes 7.6 to install. I have been trawling through the various 'Unsupported.log' files, but it seems that iTunes is complaining about missing files. Presumably these are missing Windows files?

I installed QuickTime first under a fresh XP bottle (- do I need to install XP Service Pack 4?) but it always complains about missing files and then terminates. I've heard Windows users complaining that iTunes "takes over" their PC, so am I missing some Windows dlls or something?

I haven't tried dropping to an earlier version of iTunes because I don't know what I can get away with for the new Classic. The Apple site is hopeless for support and tells me nothing.

Does anyone have a success story to share, with an idiot's guide?

Thanks.
