Backtrace

I have retured to testing Logos 4. There is, however, a problem with the install. The system appears to install, but nothing works. The backtrace produces the following:

Unhandled exception: unimplemented function windowscodecs.dll.WICCreateImagingFactory_Proxy called in 32-bit code (0x7b83af02).

I wonder if copying the dll file from a full windows installation will fix the problem?

edit: words removed from title & body - please do not mention beta results in general forums - thanks

Problem with storage.dll.

edit: words removed from title, as per above reason - thanks

I tried installing Logos 4 on Crossover Linux Pro 10.2.0 but got an error during installation: "Setup was unable to download a required file." I click OK and the installation quits.

I have exactly the same problem on Crossover 11.

"Setup was unable to download a required file." I click OK and the installation quits.

Nick

At what stage are you getting that message? Are you installing the .netframeworks first? These need to be installed from the list of available applications. You should find .netframework 3.5 sp1 (the pre-requisite for logos 4) under the "service packs and frameworks" at the bottom. This will install .netfwx 2,3,3.5 and then finally the sp1. After you have done this, you should try giving logos4 a go. The installation may appear to finish, but you might find you get an error with something like "shared mode not implemented". See above for the specifics.

Good Luck! Let us know how you get on.

I have this problem too.
First I installed .Net3 Sp1. I then file the Logos4Setup.exe installed.

The installation breaks off: "Setup was unable to download a required file."
The log file of logos will look like this:

Thanks for posting and participating. As far as I can tell, the installation fails when you are using remote installation. It looks like you downloaded the Logos4Setup.exe from the Logos website. Is this correct? The files this will attempt to download are Logos4Prerequisites.msi and Logos4.msi. I would recommend downloading the DVD iso from the FTP site:Logos 4 SR5 ISO.

I have confirmed that the installation will proceed, but you do get an error still. I would also recommend trying a VISTA bottle instead of XP. Either way, record your backtraces and generate logs for posting here.

Good Luck!

The link you posted fails because it has "link=http://ftp://... ." This should now be the correct link:
Logos 4 SR5 ISO (Corrected)

I have been going around on the Logos site about this. It is frustrating that Logos seems to be deliberately making it difficult for Linux users to be able to use Logos resources. Hopefully by working together, we can figure this out.

Did you try installing DirectX 9 in your bottle? It was listed on the Logos site as one of the prerequisites. What else beside .net 3.5 service pack 1 did you install? I was also getting the message about not being able to download required components as Nick. I am using the link you listed to download the ISO, and I will try from there.
