Install 2004 H&B = No Joy

I've been trying all the suggestions in this forum for installing H&B, but no luck. It always carps out on an IDriver.exe install. I try to install DCOM95 from the supported menu, but it says that its already installed and need to be uninstalled first. I am trying the Demo version to see if its worth buying, but so far have had very little luck in installing anything! Quicktime has been installed, but everything else has failed.

IE6 Install dies with this debug (hopping that it shows whats wrong with my setup):

I am running FC5 ( 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5) 64bit, CX 5.0.3, 1GB ram. Any ideas? Would love to buy this software, but not if I can't run any windows software!!!

Thanks :) -- John

I see you've got no replies yet, so let me see if I can offer you a suggestion.

First off, you're trying to install a 32-bit app in a 64-bit environment and that's not guaranteed to work. I have a 64-bit processor myself running SuSE 10.1, but I'm running the 32-bit OS because I've simply run into too many problems with 32-bit software that doesn't have a 64-bit version.

You might try installing a 32-bit version of CXOffice in a 32-bit chroot jail (here's a good place to start looking: http://librenix.com/?page=Chroot -- I'd also search around Google). Then when you install 32-bit software it'll have the right libraries to link to.

Second, what steps exactly are you taking to install this software? For Quicken, I've found the best results come from creating a bottle first, installing IE6 and Flash and Quicktime into the bottle before attempting to install Quicken. That way Quicken doesn't need to install IE from its install disc (which doesn't seem to work for some reason). Also, of course, install DCOM95 in the bottle prior to the Quicken install. After that's all installed, try installing Quicken into the bottle and see how it goes.

Let us know! Cheers!
