Spider Solitaire

I install Spider Solitaire (windows XP version) on CXG 8, and a recent NB.

The game is playable on both, but :

  • No sound,
  • No way to have help on next turn (by pressing "A") : nothing append.

I am just interested....can i ask why...are you play spider solitare on Cxgames....when there are native version avialble for both Linux and mac?

All of these are sharewares, and expensives ones (The first one is 29€, more than a good xbox360 game in the "classic" series !). Damn ! It's just a card game !

And i'm not searching for a solitaire, but a spider solitaire (a different game)

okay okay..take a chill pill.. i am euqally pissed that there is no freeware out there =.= ( okay not pissed as in pissed...but just irked)

okay..um..get a windows free ware version of spider solitare and see if it works..

Hm...btw which spider solitare were you using?

I'm just using the Spider solitaire bundled with Windows XP.

No demo, no shareware asking to pay each time i wanna quit, no a lot of games i will never try, and menus in French (i'm french). Just the Spider... :P

Imho i do not think that copying executables directly and running them would be the 'cleanest' way...it might introduce some problems

hm..other than that .( i presume you are using a mac )
Do try CxPro version...IMHo spider solitare uses certian tweaks that Cxpro has ...Probably related to IE and so on....just a suggestion

I don't do that.
I found somewhere a installable version : http://jeux.cartes.free.fr/jeux/spider.exe

CxPro ? Maybe a good idea. I'll try that !

Did a bit of googling for a Mac native freeware game of Spider Solitaire and found http://www.mikesedore.com/mikecard.html

The "full" version is shareware, but the Lite version (which only includes 7 games, but one of them appears to be Spider solitaire) says it's fully free. I can't vouch for if it's good or not, as I don't have a Mac, but might be worth a try.

EDIT: Also there's http://pysolfc.sourceforge.net/ which is utterly free, has 1,048 variations of solitaire (including 62 of Spider), with Linux, Mac, and Windows versions.

I have spent hours searching for an exact replica (Mac version) of the MS Spider Solitaire (2 Suits) that comes with Windows--Freeware, Shareware, etc... Doesn't matter, couldn't find something my client would be happy with although we got close a few times.

We ended up installing Crossover 8 on her Mac and it all looked good until we realized there was no way we could get the "Show Next Possible Moves" feature to work. It's supposed to give you hints by automatically hi-lighting your next possible moves after clicking on the score box at the bottom center of the window. The action sound plays after clicking the box but no moves are visibly hi-lighted ☹️

That was a show-stopper for my very discerning client so we ended up installing Parallels with full-blown XP on it. It's the Sledgehammer approach we were trying to avoid from the beginning but a necessary evil in this case. This person (a recent WIndows to mac Switcher) couldn't live without her Spider Solitaire which she refers to as her "Prozac" so it was either this or have her go back to the dark side altogether.

Too bad there was no way to get Spider fully functional on Crossover as I have other clients also addicted to the game who keep their old PC's lying around just to play it on!

Hi,

Looks like this title is subject to a number of wine bugs ;

http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=263&iTestingId=2903

Sometimes, things have to be fixed in wine first, before those fixes filter down
into crossover's wine build -- as always, you can email info@codeweavers.com for
official support/comment on the issues encountered here.

Cheers!
