How do you get this to run in windowed mode?
There are two ways to run it in windowed mode, using an emulated desktop on winecfg or on the options of the game itself select full-screen and change it to windowed.
In my case I had the following issues:
It requires Direct X. Just in case you forget to install that, like I did.
The mouse is wonky during the menu; just use the keyboard. Mouse seems to work okay in-game.
The shader/non-shader character setting doesn't seem to save properly. I need to specify "shader characters" every time I run the game, otherwise the character models look terrible.
I played it safe starting it in windowed mode. It worked fine. Then I switched to fullscreen, and it also worked fine. But then I could not go back to windowed mode through the in-game menu, I just got a black screen like mentioned. Closing the game with Alt-F4 and starting again works okay, but it stays fullscreen. So if you like your windowed mode, choose it from the beginning, and don't try fullscreen.
CXG 9.2 Linux, Ubuntu 10.04, amd64, nVidia GeForce 9500 GT. The Path 1.1 tale-of-tales version (non-Steam).
Got the full game on Steam (I missed Tale of tale's Halloween sale! so I got it on Steam's fright bundle).
I'm having trouble getting it to work on the Steam version and I see the distributor note saying that it doesn't work.
Any suggestion on how to get the Steam version to work?
Nevermind I'm not wasting any time in getting this game to work.
I just had a rather nasty interchange with the director of Tell-Tale and it just put me off. As excited as I was about this game... it's a bummer.
