I just installed Crossover games 9.1 - While before I only got shadows for the characters instead of the characters themselves, I now get the characters, with some black sticks sticking out of their back - an improvement !!

I haven't played around with all my settings, hopefully one or other setting will get rid of this artifact as well...

I've had the same issue from time-to-time with Witcher. Are you running the retail version, steam, directors cut, etc?

I have it thought steam and have found that telling CX to simulate a reboot on the bottle can help. Have you tried that?

Black sticks? Are these polygons with their vertexes apparently at infinity? If so, that may be similar to something we've seen in some other games, and there's a hack you can try that might help:

Using regedit, create the key path HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/AppDefaults/<whatever>.exe/Direct3D. Use the name of the Witcher .exe file instead of <whatever>, of course. Within the Direct3D key, create a new string value named SafeVsConsts and set it to "enable" (without the quotes).

I've added the setting. Now most of the times I do get the complete experience ! Sometimes when loading the withcher (bought, not steamed) I still get just the eyeballs and tongues showing, and everything else invisible.

It might depend on what file I launch, I'm not sure.

But it definitely improves the experience !
