The following is the instructions to run the There client on CrossOver for MacOS:
Installation
- Download the client installer from the There website.
- Download the helper installer from the Hmph! website.
- Install "Get_There" to a Bottle.
- Install "DirectX for Modern Games".
- Install "ThereHelper" to the client directory (by default, "C:\Makena\There\ThereClient\").
- Run the command "InstFlash6AX" from the client directory.
- Run "There Tweaker" and select dx9 as the renderer.
Known Issues and Workarounds
- Without the helper, the client will just show a black window. CrossOver has a bug which prevents 3D and UI windows from being used together.
- CrossOver's browser has a bug which causes most of the webapps to display "XML Parsing Error: no element found". Use a MacOS browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge, etc...) instead.
- Game tables do not show the game hud.
- Sound systems don't seem to work.
Going There
- Once everything is installed, run both "Sign on to There" and "There Helper".
- There's voice trainer can be accessed from the menu of the helper.
- After logging into There, only the bottom menu bar will be visible. Use the helper buttons "Show World" to show the 3D world and "Show Menu" to show the menu bar again.
- To exit, logout using the menu bar then click the window's red circle in the top left corner. Note that the MacOS menu "Quit There" does not work.
