Can't install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable to any bottle/anywhere

Hi, I want to install the GOG.com version of Total Annihilation and noticed here that "The GOG.com version requires the installation of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable package into the same bottle as you have Total Annihilation installed", so I tried installing that thing into a bottle where I'd already installed TA (setup_total_annihilation_commander_pack.exe). I've tried several different things, though I don't really know EXACTLY what all these things in CrossOver games do, but I get this every time: http://d.pr/IsYG

The loader stops at that point every time, no matter how I try to install it, and I get that scary "failed to download ..." message. I tried downloading the Visual C++ thing from here: http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=5369 but the exact same thing happened. :(

I don't really get any of this, is it a problem with downloading the Visual C++ thing, or won't it install?

System specs: OS X Lion, Intel, iMac.

PLEASE HELP, or I'll seriously start to cry. :c

Hi,

I just checked this and it's working fine, both from the C4 webpage
you link to above and from the builtin target in cxinstaller (in the
Runtime Support Components section)...

...that said, I am running the latest Crossover release (10.1.1
or 10.1.2 for Crossover Games), which have OSX 10.7 support... ergo...
which version of Crossover are you running?

Cheers!

Hi, really appreciate the super fast reply! Thanks!

Well, this is embarrassing... I found the problem, it was Little Snitch that was keeping it from connecting to the internet, I now allowed it and it worked fine. Installed "Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable" and "Direct X 9" to the TA bottle.

Runs smoothly, but only on 640 x 480 resolution. If I adjust it to anything higher than that, like 800 x 500, the game starts lagging horrendously (both in Skirmish and Campaign). It seems like this guy: http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=374;forum=1;msg=60763 has is "running smoothly" on 800 x 500. How can that be? Is there any way to get the resolution up without an interstellar lag party? :)

Some info: I have TA in a WinXP bottle with these installed applications: http://d.pr/meEZ running the trial version of CrossOver Games, the latest version (10.1.2) and OSX Lion (10.7) http://d.pr/XfQx

Are there more apps I can install to the bottle or something?

Thanks again, your awesomeness,

-Markus
