WoW already installed?
Posted 2006-10-04 14:47
I have WoW already installed via Cedega, but running it under XOver makes all the textures turn a bizarre shade of green.  Please help, I really don't think I have the HDD space to install the game again.

I read that there are some 'adjustments' that the installer makes to XOver when one installs WoW.  I just want to try this out really.  See if it's better than Cedega, or close at least.

I have wow running now :)

My system is a Athlon64 3500, 1 gig ddr, Ati x850 p.e. 256 ram, Asus av8 deluxe mobo.

I am running Elive Revolution (Debian). Elive has native 3d support for ati and nvidia.

I had a few problems at first. The first time i ran it my screen was 3/4's black. Then i tried the -opengl tag on the command
line and that fixed the black but put my fps in the 1-2 range.

What finally worked was i ran cxrun from the cxofficebeta/bin folder and i open the wow.exe manually from there and bingo ran fine. I am playing at 1024 x 768 at around 30 fps in windowed mode.

Look for me on Aiere Peak, Dwarf warr named Irontooth. looking to get into the CrossOver guild :)

You can create a symbolic link of the shortcut... which will be something like:
ln -s ~/.cxoffice/***/deskdata/cxmenu/Shortcuts/ ~/WoW

where *** is the name of the bottle you have WoW installed in. may be slightly different.

Then all you need to do is run ~/WoW
