Simsig

Simsig accurately simulates a British railway signaller's workstation. The player controls the running of trains in a given area by setting the route each train will take. The areas simulated are actual parts of the rail network in England, and the game is derived directly from the simulator used to train railway staff. The game allows multiple users to control (via a network or the internet) the same area (some areas are quite large and complex, and work better with several users), and areas which adjoin in real life can be chained, so that trains are moved back and forth between them. The game is freeware, and there is a reasonable sized community, in Britain and around the world, who develop timetables, and meet periodically to socialise and to play together.
