Download PunkBuster Setup (PBSetup) as pbsetup.zip from http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads.php . Install to the bottle where where Steam with BF2 is installed. During the install process the pbsetup will open and will let you select the game. Usually pointing to the right directory and as soon as you've added it, it will start to update the client to the current version. Have fun!
Important: After the pbsetup update, you need to go inside the game directory(i.e. x:/Program Files/Steam....../steamapps/common/BF2/) and then you have to copy the pb folder from your Game Directory to the My Documents folder (My Documents/BFBC2) where you replace the current pb (My Documents/BFBC2/pb) folder. After that it will just work fine.
