Diablo II Tips

CD non-detect in 5.0

My CD drive won't detect the game, and hence even though it installs just fine, it won't play once installed. Vexing.

Notes from AP:
If this is happening to you, please first make sure that:
  • you installed into a Windows 2000 bottle
  • you patch to the latest version of the game (1.11b as of right now)
  • you have full (r/w) access to the CD-ROM device
  • the play/expansion disc is in the drive and mounted
If that still doesn't fix it, you are running into something I haven't seen, and I'd like to know exactly what your setup is.
