Europa Universalis III Tips

this is 'as of cxgames 8.1.4',
you need the dlls and the sound fix but thats about it, however doing all the other fixes improves the game greatly, fixing crashes.
fully tested with the lastest IN patch. NOT tested with HTTT.


in order to play to play you need to follow the guide here:

or simply:
*create a special case for eu3game.exe via bottle config menu(like there is one for hl2.exe)

'run' regedit,
add a 'Direct3D' key to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/, or HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Wine/eu3game.exe if you created the separate case.
then add the following strings to it:
DirectDrawRenderer to opengl
OffscreenRenderingMode to pbuffer
UseGLSL to enabled
VideoMemorySize to 128 or more(use your video card's memory here)

after that, create a 'DirectSound' key under wine or wine/eu3game.exe,
add the string MaxShadowSize as 0.

now you can create another key called DllOverrides, or do that via the pretty configuration menu for the bottle.(in the 'library' section of winecfg)
and set d3dx9_36, d3dxof, and msvcp60 at least to native,builtin.(get these dlls from windows and coy them into the bottle's windows/system32 folder).

Most importantly, after all of that, go to the settings.txt file in the main EU folder, and change master sound = -1.(from 100)
-without that the game wont run.-

after that you're pretty much all set,
this works with IN 3.2.
