The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Tips

Music Playback failing

As of CX Games 9.0 the CD copy protection mechanism is no longer the startup blocker. It now stops at trying to playback some .mp3 sound file (it may take a few minutes to get there, startup is slow, be patient). This is due to a missing mp3 codec file.

I know of two workarounds:

(1) Get a windows mp3 codec file (e.g. l3codeca.acm, or install a codec into the bottle), copy the file to ~.cxgames/name_of_bottle/drive_c/windows/system32 folder and rename it to winemp3.acm

(2) Delete the folder with the mp3 files in your ~.cxgames/name_of_bottle/drive_c/path/to/game folder. You will have no music but you can get into the game.
