The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Tips

Improve performance by setting DirectDrawRenderer to OpenGL

One way to improve performance is to set DirectDrawRenderer to OpenGL. This is done with Regedit.

Run regedit by going to Tools --> Run Command and typing in "regeit.

Navigate to key HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>wine>Direct3D or you can dedicate settings only to this game by HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Wine>AppDefaults>TESV.exe>Direct3D. If these keys do not exist, create them.

Add the string DirectDrawRenderer and set it's value to "opengl" without the double quotes.

This has been tested on Arch Linux and CrossOver 14.1.4.
