This most often happens in accounts with Parental Controls set. The cause of the issue is that some of the patches do not pass through the filters set in place for Parental Controls for various strange reasons.
Symptoms of this issue can be the inability to complete a Wizard101 update or the inability to type in the sign in screen of the patcher.
The workaround is to add the sites Wizard101 patches from to the white list in the user level account by completing the following steps.
1. From the Admin account click on the Apple Icon in the upper left corner
2. Select "System Preferences" from the drop down menu
3. Choose "Users & Groups" from the "System" section of the "System Preferences" window
4. click "Click the lock to make changes."
5. provide administrative credentials to unlock these settings
6. select the user account that has parental controls set
7. click "Open Parental Controls..."
8. choose the "Web" tab
9. Add the above websites to the approved lists
a. If using the "Try to limit access to adult websites automatically" setting, click "Customize..." and then use the "+" button in the "Always allow these websites:" section to add:
i. https://kingsisle.hs.llnwd.net
ii. https://www.wizard101.com
b. If using the "Allow access to only these websites" setting use the "+" button and add (as individual bookmarks or as a folder with each as a bookmark):
i. https://kingsisle.hs.llnwd.net
ii. https://www.wizard101.com
