Installation on Debian 9 fails

I tried installing on Debian 9.3 with CrossOver 17.1.0.

The installer fails with the error message "The LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Driver installation has failed."

In the installer log, there are a bunch of repeated errors:

fixme:msi:MsiGetMode no support for administrative installs
err:winediag:ODBC_LoadDriverManager failed to open library "libodbc.so": libodbc.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
err:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim error reading registry key for installroot
err:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim error reading registry key for installroot
err:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim error reading registry key for installroot
err:mscoree:LoadLibraryShim error reading registry key for installroot

However, there is no mention of the NXT driver in the log.

Tried again with Debian 9.5 64bit and CrossOver 17.5.0.

Installation fails with an error message "Installation failed."

There is a large number of errors in the logfile, none of which are clearly the cause of the failure.

cxdiag says:
libfreetype.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

but synaptic says (since libfreetype6 is installed):
installed files...
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfreetype.so.6

adding the path to the $PATH doesn't help.

So far CrossOver doesn't get installed.
What could be the solution?

With CrossOver 18.1.0 on Debian 9.5, the installation proceeds to about 79% and then fails with an error message that "LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT Driver" failed to install.

The .cxlog does not mention "NXT" at all and there is no obvious error causing the failure.

I'm afraid we will not see this software working until USB support is improved on wine / Crossover. USB support is definitely a priority for implementation. I guess the NXT driver error message is because wine / Crossover don't support these USB drivers yet.
