What requires .NET Framework 4.0? Please add to this thread..

Has anyone compiled a list of programs now requiring .NET Framework 4.0?

Here is one to add to it, Intuit TurboTax 2011.

  • added TurboTax 2011 to the add support for .NET 4.0 bug

.

Microsoft Mappoint Europe/North America 2011 and of course all Visual Studio 2010 editions

Microsoft Expression 4 applications i.e. Expression Studio 4, Web 4, Blend 4, Design 4, Encoder 4

Autodesk Inventor 2012
Autodesk 3ds Max 2012
Autodesk Autocad 2012

In the games category I know there are quite a few, but one that I know for sure of is Q.U.B.E..

The new SONOS Desktop Controller application apparently uses .NET 4.0. The previous versions worked pretty well under Crossover.

Articulate Studio requires .Net Framework 4, and that's why it won't run.

*changed the head topic of this thread & made it sticky - instant placeholder..

*added this thread to it's own bug linked back to the 'primary' bug (#7370) ...

...I think that should cover it -- just keep adding other apps that you need
or want to run, which require .NET 4.0, to this thread -- although I'm pretty
sure the devs are aware of the demand to get .NET 4.0 working, it never hurts
to quantify such things...

A few applications I advocate and which require .Net 4.0 (And thus currently don't work.)

MarkdownPad,

IBM Disk Magic (capacity planning tool)

JMP 10.0
(statistical analysis software by SAS (Cary, NC))

Garmin Lifetime Updater

http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=10363

sharp ocarina (zelda mapping tool) requires it

Magic the Gathering: Online

Zappiti

Zappiti Media Center is the Ultimate Media Center for HTPC (Home Theater PC) or Dune HD Player.

Visual Studio 2008 (including Team Explorer and Outlook plugin for it)

We've been watching this thread and the progress on .Net 4.0 in wine. We believe we're at a point where we can test titles that require .Net 4.0 so that we can flush out additional components that need implementation. Are there any other titles that we should consider for this testing cycle?

I have:

  • B.U.T.T.O.N. - Brutally Unfair Tactics Totally OK Now
  • Breath of Death VII: The Beginning
  • Cthulhu Saves the World

And a couple more that technically only require .Net3.5, but I'm not sure what 3.5's chances are:

  • Capsize
  • Chime

Noted and added to my list, thank you for your prompt response!

Borderlands 2

Borderlands 2!!

Autodesk 123D 2012

Citrix XenCenter 6.0 and 6.1

Productivity software:

TurboTax 2012 still fails in crossover-12.0.0-1.i386 on Fedora 17 x86_64. You must allow mmap of page zero:

grep wine-preloader /var/log/audit/audit.log | audit2allow -M wine-preloader-mmap-zero

semodule -i wine-preloader-mmap-zero.pp

but even after that, running the app still fails with:
runcommanddlg.py:125:progbar_pulse:AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'pulse'

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/opt/cxoffice/lib/python/runcommanddlg.py", line 125, in progbar_pulse
progBar.pulse()
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'pulse'

Local variables in innermost frame:
self: <runcommanddlg.RunCommandController object at 0x7f9cdc171e50>
progBar: None
and a TurboTax dialog that implicates a corrupted installation of .NET framework 4. The TurboTax diagnostic
web pages are essentially impossible to understand with regard to Crossover. Please improve .NET framework 4.
Intuit sent out thousands of free "demo CD" containing Deluxe or Premier, as a come-on to get you to purchase
directly from them instead of from a retailer. Didn't any Crossover employee receive this mailing? Else the
lowest-cost CD is something like $44 today, perhaps $40 or $35 from Frys in a couple weeks.

Both DayZ Commander and Play withSIX need it (currently I can't get either to work, both crash when I try to launch them after installing), and the latter is complaining about not being to run due to missing .NET 4.0 hotfix KB468871v2.

Railworks 4: Train Simulator 2013 requires it (and runs fine). All previous versions of Railworks require it (or .NET 3.5) as well.

Markdown Pad 2 (pro)

SketchUp 2013, and works fine.

Untis 2014

Mindjet MindManager 11

Another game that requires NET 4.0 (and XNA 4.0) is "Distant Worlds"

Elite Dangerous's laucher appears to need it

Killer is Dead - the Steam release appears to attempt to install .NET 4 when first launching.

PV Studio (1.11.11) from Solar Pathfinder requires .Net Framework 4.0
