Quicken 2020 and Big Sur

Does Quicken 2020 work on mac OS Big Sur? I have an old MacBook Pro (late 2013 model with i7 chip).

Hi there,

I can't guarantee that it will definitely work on your old MBP, but internally we have had success running Quicken 2020 with Big Sur.

Best,
Meredith

I do not get anywhere close to it installing. The 1st error message is "The'Creating the Quicken 2020 bollt' task failed." And "cxbottle:error: unable to creat the "Quicken 2020 bottle in /Users/ . . .
If I skip this step, then all other install steps also fail. Any troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What CrossOver version are you using? This sounds like a larger issue that just Quicken 2020 failing.

Meredith

I am using CrossOver version 20.0.4, the latest version.

Hmm, are you using any anti-virus software? That's the only other thing I can think of that could cause an installation to fail so quickly. If that's not the issue, I would recommend opening a support ticket.

Best,
Meredith

Yes, I am using Avast Security. I closed the program and tried to install Quicken, but got the same errors. Should I uninstall Avast Security, then try again? I did complete a customer service request this morning.

You'll for sure need to disable Avast, then uninstall and reinstall CrossOver. If you want to keep using Avast, you'll need to set up exceptions as described here: https://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki/mac/mactutorial/bitdefender

Note that this might not be sufficient: it used to be, but we've been hearing more issues from Avast users in the past few weeks, which leads me to believe that Avast is now reporting more false positives than it previously did. Your best bet for being able to use both Avast and CrossOver is to report your issues to Avast. Nothing has changed on our end, and all of these issues are false positives.

Best,
Meredith

Thanks Merideth for your support. With your information and Ryan's from customer support I was able to successfully isntall and run Quicken again! I added the scan exceptions to Avast and everything seems to be working great. Thanks again.

Hi Gary,

Great, I'm so glad you hear you got it working! :D

Best,
Meredith
