Latest Guild Wars 2 update on 14.03.2023 broke the game launch

Was using GW2 for 2 weeks and it worked great, but today after update it won't launch.
I use Crossover 22.1 on MacOS Ventura 13.1.
Screenshot with error related to CefHost.exe attached.
Maybe there is a way to fix this?

Looks like it might be an error on ArenaNet side - https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/topic/128885-chromium-embedded-framework-host-for-guild-wars-2-stopped-to-work/?do=findComment&comment=1869362

adding -- -usecoherent to launch options temporarily resolved the issue

I have the same problem on Ventura 13.2.1 M1 Max Mac Studio.

What is the full command line to add -usecoherent ? (path to setup exe?)

I'm also crashing when the setup program is at Initializing... before the launcher is even running...

I tried to add custom link, but failed.
The way it worked for me - chose second shortcut and click Run with options, then add -- -usecoherent

Thanx for that. For some reason it isn't working for me, I get the same CefHost crash. Maybe ANet will be able to fix this...

It also crashes on my old intel iMac Monterey 12.6.3

Adding the "usecoherent" option lets the game launch for me, but when I get to the character select screen the game is stuck in fullscreen and the mouse is frozen in the upper left corner. Any ideas?

OK, the option -- -usecoherent did work on my old intel iMac.

The problem on my Ventura M1 mac is that I was trying a clean install - I deleted the bottle and was trying to reinstall, so the Gw2-64.exe isn't even in the bottle yet, just the setup program, but this one still crashes, so maybe there is another aspect to this problem during a fresh install of the game....

I have the same issue, I do cmd+tab from the game, then cmd+tab back to resolve it.

Also there was an update today and it fixed for me the need for command line option.

Hi, was anyone able to solve this isssue? I made the mistake of deleting the bottle thinking that would work. -usecoherent doesnt work in this instance.

Really would love if someone figured out how to do this on a fresh install

Had same problem today. ANet did a broken update and had error on start (just like Victor on 1st post) .
And the solution (at least on my part) was same as Victor's : on 2nd shortcut launcher, right click , options, and added there : -- -usecoherent

Now game launched normal, character selection fine, trading post working alright.

I'm not on Mac, but on Ryzen 5 3400G, no dedicated video graphics card, Crossover 22.1.1 Ubuntu 22.04

Thanks Shadeon, however I made the massive mistake of deleting the bottle and trying to add a fresh one thinking that would work. However now when I install I only get one executable shortcut and no support links in the bottle. No command has gotten it to run. My game stopped working on the April 18 2023 update and I get the error the Viktor is getting.

Does anyone know how to get the install working properly? So maybe then -usecoherent would work

What I did on 21 (you can try to find a version 21 somewhere, and after install and testing, update it to 22) and would do the same on 22 again is, I gone to the "Install" under home, typed "Guild Wars 2" there (which I think it's the pre bottle install settings for gw2) and fed it with the executable client.

And on the 2nd shortcut, right click it, "Run with options" and type there the : -- -usecoherent .
If you type just -usecoherent without the -- and a space bar after, it won't work, so add : --<space bar>-usecoherent

Edit : It seems after trying some other times, both shortcuts don't work. While the 1st one never works with the -- -usecoherent, the 2nd one with that argument works most of time (when it does not, you close and use the 1st shortcut, then you use the 2nd shortcut again and it works, repeat this cycle until you logged into the game).

same issue as Jose, but the 22 version solved another issue that I had with the previous version, so I won't try with an old version :(

Looks like the latest GW2 update has fixed the issue. Game launches fine for me now without having to use the extra parameter.

Thanks for the tip, I tried it and it worked for me
