Usually Crossover provides better compatibility for games than vanilla Wine does, but on the other hand sometimes Wine has features and fixes added between Crossover releases and therefore runs some games better.
What usually stops me from using vanilla Wine in these cases is Wine's lack of a bottle/template facility. I could use Wine prefixes to create the effect of bottles, but that involves a lot of manual labor in creating scripts and Gnome menu items and launchers. So I usually just install it on my Windows hard drive and reboot to Windows instead.
What I'd like to see is the ability, when installing Windows games through Crossover, to have the option (perhaps a checkbox or radio button?) to choose whether to create a bottle that runs Crossover's flavor of Wine, or the vanilla one.
Anyone else like to see this?
