Whenever I play Rift, after installing some other things, just to be able to see that game, it works amazing!! the only problem I have with it is that whenever I pull up the map my game freezes from 4-6 secs and then will load normally. Is there any known way to fix this? It really gets annoying not being able to do anything and just watching a frozen screen.

You're not the only one. It lags so bad for me as well, and often causes me to disconnect. I'm not sure how to fix it, but if anyone knows, please let us know so that we can actually use the map (its a big part of the game)
At this point, the easiest workaround is to use the 'simple renderer'. This will allow you to press 'c' to see your Character screen and to press 'm' and much, much more quickly bring up the Map screen.
We are working on this issue, but we do not have an ETA on it's resolution at this time.
