Rift - graphics at minimum but still lagging.. solution?

Does anyone else have to play this game at very low (or absolute min) settings, and still lag a lot? I can't fight, open the map, or do invasions without lagging terribly. I don't understand why this is because I can play World of Warcraft on the maximum settings on everything and have no lag whatsoever.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue so that I (and potentially many others) don't have to play this game at the minimum graphical settings and still lag a LOT?

I am using a Macbook Pro 10.6.6

If anyone knows how to make it so you can play the game with good settings and not lag, please let us know.

Well, on one of our systems in-house, we have to play with minimal graphics settings (a pity), it is our Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT Mac. This Mac is a little old. It play World of Warcraft without any trouble, but Rift has a less than positive experience.

Are you running Mac or Linux? What graphics card are you using?
