Why is it when I run a 64 bit Linux system it runs slower than a 32 bit system when it comes to games mainly on steam? I run Linux Mint and have always used the 64 bit version, but by mistake put the 32 bit on and my fps have doubled on games like counter strike source, modern warfare 2 etc. ....
I'm not doing anything different so I find it odd, any ideas?

Triple Core phenom 2.1 Ghz
3 Gig DDR
Sata Hard Drive
Bfg OC Edition 8800 GT
