CrossOver Support - Community Forums

Hey there,

I've Steam installed on my iMac via Crossover Games. Installing was no problem, it works pretty fine.
Now I'd like to install Empire Total War on my Mac, too, unfortunately, this tends not to work with the setup.exe
that comes on the CD with it. It directly sends me to the installation window, but it installs Steam again, not ETW.
Direct installation from CD seems not to work...

Is there any other way to install Empire Total War via CD? I don't really want to download these 18 GB...

Or are those what you've been using?

This is rated as "garbage" or "doesn't work" at WineHQ and only carries a "bronze" rating here because we've been able to get it to install.

By that, I mean that the -old- results of running it via Steam are bad (even when taking the time to download the game completely). If you're really interested in trying it out, there are instructions linked from WineHQ that may help you get it installed from the CD via Steam but they will take a bit of computer foo to accomplish.

Ultimately, the rating on the game has not been updated since CrossOver 9.1 and even then was not great. We'll be happy to try to help you get up and running but I think installing from the CD is difficult at best and running via Steam may not work as well as you hope.
