Did you ever migrate your primary user account from an old Mac to this new one via Migration Assistant or some other such process? If so, this process can mangle the permissions settings on your account in ways that negatively affect Crossover, but affect few other Mac programs.
To check, login to your primary account and open up a terminal (Applications>Utilities>Terminal). Run the following command:
ls -ld@e ~
A sample output of what you should see is something like this:
jack-mac:~ jack$ ls -ld@e ~
drwxr-xr-x+ 56 jack staff 1904 Oct 6 16:44 /Users/jack
0: group:everyone deny delete
What is your output?
