I recently downloaded the trial version of crossover games to play the L4D2 game i bought through steam. It ran perfectly the first time through, then it froze while i was in the lobby for another versus game. It didnt run after that. I was desperate to play, so i looked around in the forums and spent a few days trying to fix the mega super error i was getting everytime i tried to load the game.
(Though i could watch the trailer as many times as i wanted to)
I found out that this quick fix made it run a second time.
go into steam games list
if you have downloaded l4d2, right click and select properties
go to the "local files" tab, click on "verify integrity of game cache"
it may say that a few files were not found and will load them from steam.
then magically it worked for me.
i believe that the problem lies in the fact that the game may not update itself automatically.
now that l4d2 works and team fortress 2 apparently has worked for many people
i plan on purchasing a full copy of crossover games.
What version was that trial of CrossOver Games? This L4D2 issue was happening at various times in the frantic 8.1.[0-3] period, but should not happen with 8.1.4.
I downloaded the 8.1.4 trial version.
I dont really know why it wouldnt work.
it would say there was a serious error
(i still have 3 days with the trial left, then i'm going to purchase the full version)
