I recently re-downloaded CrossOver Games. However, I can't unlock the program and am forced to play the trial version. When I try to put in my account name and password, it tells me "failed to download key: Your support period has expired. You are no longer entitled to product upgrades" So how do I have to do to entitle myself to moer "Upgrades?" Do I have to buy Crossover again, or pay an additional fee to use it again? I sure hope not.
If you're downloading Crossover Games 8, and you've not paid in the past year or so, you're probably only entitled to Crossover Games 7.2. You can still download and use the older versions you're entitled to, but for another year of support and upgrades, you'll need to renew (or pay again, if you're out of your renewal period).
That said, there was an issue a little while back where the website was refusing to unlock valid software, but I think that's fixed.
<edit> I should mention if you're on a Mac and you've upgraded to Snow Leopard, Apple changed some stuff that broke Crossover Games 7 series. If that's the case, you'll need to upgrade to 8. </edit>
Will that version be able to get fixed is an bugs like games constant crashes occur? Or are you going to leave me for dead until I shell out 40 bucks on top of the 20 I already paid you people the first time I bought it a year or so ago?
Does 7.2 have the better graphics on Team Fortress 2 that the one I just downloaded have? Or is that a 8.0-only feature?
If you need to get an older version than on your Download List, you'll find them at My Account -> My Downloads -> Archived Versions.
The 7 series is now outdated, so I'd imagine that no more bugfixes will take place regarding those - the current version is 8.0.
I feel I should clarify that I don't work for CodeWeavers, so you haven't paid me anything at all; I'm an Advocate which is a voluntary position which involves testing Crossover and helping people out on the forums, amongst other things.
For the money you paid 'the first time' you purchased Crossover, and any version that came out within a year you got a free upgrade to. After that year, if you want to upgrade to the newest version, you'll need to buy that. And then if another version or upgrade comes out in the next year, those will be yours also. You can ALWAYS use the version you're last entitled to.
7.2 fixed some Team Fortress 2 bugs, but didn't improve the graphics. The major graphical improvements were seen in Crossover Games 8.
