Release Timeline

Is there any indication when Crossover Games might see its next update? There have been quite a few "that will be fixed in the next release" comments on the forum, but no indication when that release might come to fruition.. Is there a resource for those of us interested in following crossover development, but don't have the resources to actually participate!?

Crossover 8's been out a while now with no news on Games 8.

No fixed date yet, other than "very soon". We've branched two weeks ago, and are busy ironing out bugs. Especially enabling Shader Model 2 and 3 by default brought up a lot of bugs, and I have been busy tracking down Mac driver bugs since months. Luckily I have been more successfull this time, and all the bugs I found had some workaround.

We currently have 43 bugs in our cxgames 8 milestone, where many are already fixed and just need a last verification that things really work now. We have a regression on Snow Leopard on ATI cards I want to take a look at(Snow Leopard breaks things that work in leopard), and we have some memory management issues left on Nvidia Macs, and game specific memory management issues with LOTRO and Guild Wars.

So I hope we can start a beta pretty soon, but I want to iron out the known bugs before we ask for more testing. Last time we started the beta with many known bugs left, and got reports we already knew, or reports for which we did not have any time left to look at because we had so many new bugs.

For what it's worth, please let the next release be better than 7.2!
I had games working fine in 7.1 that when I reinstalled them in 7.2 they don't work or don't do full screen anymore - for example Dungeon Siege 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 5. No matter what I do (uninstalling, going back to 7.1) I can't get them going now. I guess there is wine stuff somewhere on my mac that a basic delete of COG does not remove.
I really think that 7.2 was a big step back and I hope that 8 delivers the great product that we all hope for.

Thanks. Not a huge rush or anything, but its always better to know that the update is on the horizon rather then checking back every day in hopes of seeing some sort of update announced. I too would rather things get fixed right the first time then have another 7.2.2. release! I appreciate the response. Good hunting!
