Transfering bottles..

Hi all,

Does anyone know of any issue of using the archiver to transfer a bottle from one machine to another? I have a small game in a bottle that would work on my laptop, but I'd hate to have to go reinstall everything if I don't have to so I was hoping to just transfer the bottle over...

You should just be able to archive the bottle in Crossover on your laptop, then copy that archive to your other computer and use the Crossover restore from archive function to load it. Only thing I'd be concerned with is that you're moving from Crossover Games to Crossover Games, or Office to Office, not Games to Office or something like that because that could mess up the bottle restore.

Great, thanks for the info! It'll make my life easier when I travel =) But yeah, it'd definitely be COG->COG and/or COO->COO

I figured with the difference between the products that it'd be dangerous to try to do a cross product restore.

I used the archive feature to move a bottle when I upgraded my Linux distribution. One thing to consider is that the bottle may be quite large. I don't know if they use any compression, but the bottle I archived contained an installation of WOW, an the bottle was around 20 GB in size. In my case, I copied the archive to a separate partition, then just restored the archive from there. Just something to keep in mind if it's a large bottle.

The only other issue I had was that when I restored the archive, it put the launcher back on the desktop, but it was missing the icon. Other than that, everything worked without a hitch.
