Latest Fedora release 42, fresh Crossover 25.0.1 install, Quicken Classic installs without errors but hangs shortly after starting.
cxfix claims nothing to fix:
root@localhost:/opt/cxoffice# bin/cxfix --auto
Distribution: Fedora 64-bit (fedora)
Product: cx25
There is no issue to fix
Ticket 1478191 was opened on 3/15/25 when this was seen on Fedora 41 when Crossover 25 was applied (was working with Crossover 24). Was hoping the upgrades would change the situation, but it has not.
I have not gotten any attention on the ticket in a month, so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I (and likely CodeWeavers support) would appreciate any advice.
Just a stab in the dark here. I wonder if it is opening a popup window that you can't see for some reason. Maybe it's underneath the main quicken or some other window or on a different screen and/or virtual desktop if you use those.. Usually alt-tab can be used to cycle through open windows. I've had it happen to me where a window will open but it is shrunk to absolute minimum size and was hard to see given the color scheme I was using.
Another random thought. What Windows version is the bottle where Quicken is installed? Open the crossover qui and select the bottle. It will be in the upper right corner. I'm on a 64 bit Fedora 42 system. By default when I installed crossover and Quicken, it installed a Windows 7 32 bit system. I seem to remember trying something else, probably Windows 10 64 bit system but it would not work so I quit trying and went with the default.
I downgraded to Crossover 24.x For me it was menus and lists not opening, well under the menus - on a dual monitor system. Works as expected with v24. But otherwise I had no functional issue with Quicken and Crossover 25. Mine was an in-place upgrade. No it doesn't particularly help you, just fyi.
I have, in the past struggled with "hidden" or obscure pop-up windows from Quicken. It get buried, absolutely no way to get to it. It may be a remote possibility.
Quicken does a "phone home" to validate your subscription, as it's now Software As a Service. Ensure it has network access.
Charlie,
It's a default (Win7) bottle, and I don't find any hidden windows... in fact, it has a very prominent popup that says Quicken is not responding. I saw exactly the same with Fedora 41 and the previous Crossover 25 version.
Doug, I would be happy to try v24 again... can you point me at how to install an older rev?
To download past releases, versions: click on your account choose downloads. Next to Supported Downloads choose the Archieve Downloads.
I'm running Debian it's just apt install --allow-downgrade [full path with complete filename] I suspect you'll have little trouble doing similar with Fedora.
I'm on Fedora 42 and Crossover 25 and Quicken works. My desktop is KDE plasma. I wonder what different between our systems?
Charlie
