No sound on any games in crossover

I just installed Mint 16 on my laptop and the latest Crossover, but none of my games have sound. I go to the wine configuration tool and I see nothing listed as a selected driver. I am not sure how to go about installing a driver so that I can get sound. What can I do to get sound?

Thanks.

You might want to look at this thread...

I looked at that and it doesn't tell me how to get the driver on (unless I missed it).

Crap, my apologies, I read your post too fast. That's what happens when I do two things at once.

That being said, could you run cxdiag see if there isn't some missing library? Depending on your installation method, it would either be in /opt/cxoffice/bin or ~/cxoffice/bin. I suspect you might just have library missing.

No problem. Here's a question: do you mean run dxdiag or is there a cxdiag command that I don't know about?

I do mean cxdiag (as in Crossover diagnostic). It is a small utility that is part of Crossover which will try to determin what libraries are missing. The output would suggest what they are for as well. You have to run it in a terminal. If you are in the aforemention /crossover/bin directory:

./cxdiag

or, if you don't want to cd in the directory, something like:

./opt/cxoffice/bin/cxdiag

On my system, I can just do cxdiag in a terminal, but I think I set that up myself. My install is so old, and Crossover present for so long, I don't remember if I'm responsible for that or not. That what you get on rolling release like Arch, you forget just how much it is actually custom.

Anyway, I don't think this is a directx problem, so dxdiag won't help at this time.

I saw nothing about missing sound libraries:

robins80@Claudius ~/cxoffice/bin $ ./cxdiag

While we we talking, I installed wine 1.4 and now everything works.

Just out of curiosity, was there anything installed along with Wine?

Wine depends on libasound2-plugins which depends on libasound2. This is my rough guess.
