Crossover and fcitx IME

Got a strange one for you guys.
If I launch any windows application, even those within a crossover bottle(WINEPREFIX=), manually through my normally installed wine binary (wine 5-4) I can use fcitx to input Japanese. It accepts the change in input and works fine. This is done through the terminal.

If I use dmenu or the crossover manager to launch the exact same binary in the exact same bottle it launches though I cannot change to Japanese IME through fcitx. fcitx isnt recognized at all.

XMODIFIERS is all set up correctly (I think) though I don't know which framework crossover is using when it launches (QT4/5? GTK2/3? etc)
Any ideas?
