THIS IS FOR CXGAMES LINUX (may work the same way for MAC, not sure)
For those of you who kept your bottles in a different location (e.g. not /home/.cxgames), you might want to read this...
I used to have the "CX_BOTTLE_PATH" environment variable set into the main (root) "/opt/cxgames/etc/cxgames.conf" file. This does not seem to play well with the new 10.x.x versions.
Please leave the main config file alone, and add the environment variable to your own user config file instead, and avoid using the global variable "${USER}" (doesn't seem to work anymore).
So, in short, edit your own user config file (/home/{your_user_name)/.cxgames/cxgames.conf), and then add the ABSOLUTE path to your bottles directory:
[EnvironmentVariables]
"CX_BOTTLE_PATH"="/{your_absolute_path_here}"
And voilà!
