Hi there,
I've installed Crossover Linux Pro 8.0.3 as an evaluation version, and my institute is very interested in purchasing the product.
I have the following question:
I set up a managed bottle with a Office2007 installation in /opt/ as root locally on my computer. Now, all other non-root users can start and use the applications of this managed bottle just fine, that's great!
But unfortunately, the can also just run the cxsetup program and create a local copy of that managed bottle, or they can even set up a completely new bottle in the private ~/.cxoffice folder. I want to prevent this! Non-root users should only be able to USE the already provide managed bottle, but should NOT be able to create a local copy or create a new bottle!
My first idea was to limit read/execute access to cxtcl via "chmod 700 cxtcl". This then throws an error message when starting applications that this file is not accessible. So, it seems like read access to cxtcl is needed when users run programs from the managed bottle. Also, this seems to not be the most elegant way, right?
Is there any official way to prevent non-root users to make any copies or new bottles? Can I restrict them to just using the provided bottle?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards,
JB
