Support for Autocad, microstation, and other sw...

Hi All,

A bit of history...

We just got a new CIO for our IT branch. An we are now in the process of reorging (what's new...) One of the initiatives he mentioned was our move to open source. I made the bold move of volunteering my services as a semi knowledgable linux and open source person to assist in any way I can.

Well I just got word this afternoon from my CIO that we are going to make the move to open source meaning not renewing our Micro$oft licences when they expire in September 2010 so that may include a move to linux.

Being a foot soldier in the IT branch of a large northern metropolis, farther north than you think, I can tell you that we have lots of software at lots of different levels. Some of it custom built either by us or contractors/vendors, some off the shelf. We are heavy users of both Autocad 2009 and Microstation 8. my question to you is does your product Crossover Pro for linux support such apps?

If so, we are a little ways there. I'm about to delve into all the software we do use and I a Linux couterpart can't be found, well have to use your product or wine to make it work. I'll probably be asking more later.

Any assistance, advise, etc.. you can give will be appreciated and will get mentioned to my CIO. And who knows where after that.

Thanks in advance
Nick Smreciu

If you check the Compatibility section you will see that Autocad 2009 is "Known not to work" status.

You might consider installing VirtualBox and your old Windows XP license under VirtualBox. You could
then run AutoCad 2009 there.

Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
