I tried installing Xara Extreme in an unsupported winxp bottle and got an error that it needed IE5 or later. I installing IE7 then Extreme in the same bottle and it still failed. Is there some trick here?

I'd try installing IE6 to see if that satisfies Xara. Our IE7 installation has a few holes in it.
Tried with IE6 and still have the same problem.
