Screen Blanking Problem

I saw someone had an issue with this a while ago as outlined in ticket# 203761 (http://www.codeweavers.com/support/tickets/browse/?ticket_id=203761;s_subject=blank%20screen;search=%20Submit%20Search%20) and it was noted that this was a possible video driver bug - but that's where the ticket ended.

I too am having the same problem on my Dell D610 Laptop. It's got the Intel chipset (Intel 945 GM) and the blanking only occurs on my external monitor. The laptop display does not. I run primarily with my laptop lid closed and use only my external monitor. I have tried running with the laptop lid open to see if the problem goes away but it does not. I'm running openSUSE 11 and even configured my video driver to use the I810 driver (which has proven to be more stable for other issues) and to no avail... It happens with or without the desktop effects enabled too.

Has anyone found a work around to this annoying issue?

It happens in CX 6 and I'm trying CX 7 and it still happens (realizing this is a video driver issue but thought I'd put it out there anyway).

Regards,
Dave

Hmm, I am afraid that this is a limitation in CrossOver. Currently our d3d implementation does have dual monitor support, and strange things happen if two monitors are active at the same time. I don't know how your setup is exactly. Are you using both monitors, or does X see only one? If it is the former case, I think you've hit a driver bug, otherwise it's most likely CrossOver's fault.

Well, I'm only using one display right now - the laptop lid is closed. I'm using openSUSE 11.0 and I went into SAX to ensure that I didn't have "Dual Monitors" activated and it's not. What info can I provide you to help facilitate any issue resolution?

Regards,
Dave

Not sure if this helps but I have been able to stop the blinking by doing the following:

With my laptop lid open (probably would to the same close) - I run the following command:

xrandr --output LVDS --off

Which turns off the laptop display completely. Now when I launch an app under CXOffice, it doesn't blink.

So - is this a video driver bug or a CX bug?
