Office 2007 slow

Hi

I just did a fresh install of Ubuntu side by side (dual boot) on my PC (Dell with XP). I have Codeweavers on trial and did a fresh install of Office 2007 in both XP and Crossover.

Office 2007 is very slow in Ubuntu and acceptable in XP. Also Powerpoint crashes quite frequently, esp. when cut and pasting from Excel.

What can I do to improve performance in Ubuntu/Crossover and wean myself off XP?

If this is the best performance available under Crossover, then I am unlikely to buy. What other linux solutions should I try?

Regards

Andrew

Have you tried applying Service Pack 1 to Office 2007? Some of the pitfalls that are solved in Service Pack 1 are much more apparent when Office 2007 is run in CrossOver; thankfully we have added support for Service Pack 1.

If this truly does not work for you, you can try such things as Parallels, VMWare or Virtual Box... but they all require a full install of Windows.

Honestly, I find Office 2007 to work at a more than acceptable pace through CrossOver. It may be that the Ubuntu side of life (and I run Ubuntu 9.04, I'm not knocking it at all) needs a few driver updates for you to see the performance you crave.

Power Point 2007 is admittedly a bit slow, but it should not be crashing. Perhaps opening a support ticket or sending an email to info AT codeweavers.com would allow us to further assist you. What we would need to know is what you are doing when you are seeing the crashes.

Please Note: This Forum is for non-application specific questions relating to installation/configuration of CrossOver. All application-specific posts to this Forum will be moved to their appropriate Compatibility Center Forum.
